Thunder Win Streak Ended by Phantoms

After Thunder put an end to the Phantoms win streak last weekend, the Peterborough side came to Milton Keynes determined to return the favour. Missing their junior players who were away on duty with MK Storm U19’s, a slightly short benched Thunder never really got into their rhythm and it was the Phantoms who drew first blood. The home side rallied however, and scored two goals in 30 seconds towards the end of the period – heading into the break with a lead very much against the run of play.

The Phantoms took control of the game for much of the second period, scoring three unanswered before Hayden Hagger found the net to keep Thunder in touch at 3-4. The third saw plenty of chances at both ends as the game opened up, but it was the Phantoms who secured the win with a fifth and final goal to take the three points home as they continue their battle with Guildford for the league title.

Thunder will be disappointed with the final scoreline, but still sit third in the league with three games remaining of the regular season – next up Chelmsford visit the Thunderdome on Sunday 1st March, 6:30pm face-off.
