Aaron Burton Returns

Thunder are delighted to announce the return of netminder Aaron Burton

After joining part way through the 2024/25 campaign, #29 Aaron Burton has put pen to paper to return for the #NewEra in NIHL 2 for the 2025/26 season.

The 26 year old netminder came in to help the club during an injury and availability crisis last year, putting up impressive numbers that resulted in him taking over the starting role for the remainder of the season, where he iced in 13 games with an SV% of 0.88. Aaron comes with a wealth of experience, having previously played for Basingstoke, Bristol and Bracknell at NIHL 1 and 2 level, as well as a stint in America with the Daytona Racers of the USPHL in 2017.

Aaron had this to say about his decision to sign with Thunder for a second season:

Im really looking forward to returning to Thunder for my second season. I had a great time since joining mid way through last season and I am excited to help the team compete in a new league and make a big statement.

Head Coach Will Fry on Aaron’s return:

Aaron helped us out during a very difficult period last year, and immediately demonstrated his quality. His resume speaks for itself, and he proved he was a capable netminder at NIHL 1 level last year, facing an incredible amount of shots and returning great numbers, we believe that we can get the very best out of him in our new league this season coming and he will provide us with a stable and reliable backstop. He reads the game exceptionally well and his willingness to work with and involve himself with the development of our other younger netminders is invaluable. We’re delighted he has agreed to return.

Aaron’s Home & Away jerseys are available for Own and Loan now, at a cost of £80 each. Please email mkthundericehockey@gmail.com to reserve yours.
