Project Thunderstorm: Free Entry For MK Storm for 25/26
As part of Thunder's commitment to the Project Thunderstorm affiliation pathway launched last season, MK Storm Junior members will continue to receive free entry to all Thunder home matches.
Last season Thunder and MK Storm Junior Club affiliated to officially launch Project Thunderstorm, to enhance the player development pathway in Milton Keynes. In its first season the project proved successful, with Thunder proudly handing opportunities to:
- 11 players developed entirely through the MK Junior system
- 7 players dual registered and still representing MK Storm U19s
- 15 players aged 20 or less
- Several MK Storm U16 prospects who were offered regular training and development opportunities with the senior team – with 3 eligible to debut in the 25/26 season.
As part of the project, all MK Storm Junior Members and registered head coaches at each age group will receive free entry to all Thunder home matches (Under 16’s must be accompanied by an paying adult). It is hoped that this will continue to inspire the younger generations of players to follow the lead of their peers in continuing through the development system and striving to reach their full potential.
Thunder Head Coach Will Fry hopes the initiative will continue to benefit all parties:
Last season we saw huge success from our affiliation with MK Storm. We’ve identified and been fortunate to work with some really talented players who over the course of a challenging year in NIHL 1 have proven the have the potential to form a really strong core here. We have already seen increased engagement with our club from some of the younger age groups and we hope that they are inspired to continue working hard so that over the coming years we can build a majority MK developed and trained Thunder team that showcases the talent in the city and provides a springboard for these players to move onto bigger and better things through the experience and guidance we can offer as they come into senior hockey.
Updates will be provided to MK Storm members through the club in due course, and hard work is going on in the background already to select our prospects pool for next season. Signing announcements will commence soon so keep your eyes on Thunder socials, and here on our website.
